Your selected question and answer

Question:

What's the difference between Tesco 'Standard' cover and Tesco 'Extra' cover?

Answer:

Tesco Pet Insurance cover is flexible, so you can tailor your insurance to suit your needs. We offer two levels of cover for vet's fees:

Standard Cover

Covers the cost of treating an injury or illness up to a maximum of  £2,500  for each condition for up to 12 months.

You will not be able to claim on your policy for the same condition once the maximum limit is reached or after 12 months has passed from the first date of treatment or diagnosis of the condition.

Extra Cover

Covers the cost of treating an injury or illness up to £4,000 for each condition (no time limit).

The condition will not be covered once the maximum limit is reached.  There is no time limit on how long the claim can last.

Please remember that our policies do not cover any pre-existing medical conditions that your pets may have, or the costs of treating an illness that shows clinical signs within the first 14 days of this policy.  Your policy must also remain in force for the duration of your claim.

You can also choose to add optional extensions to both the Standard and Extra policies:

  • Package of additional benefits
  • Pet travel cover
  • Third party liability (dogs only)
